Young Guyanese Lawyer to speak at Diaspora Organization Launch in New York

Apollo Beach, FL – After careful consideration of a field of impressive second-generation Guyanese candidates, the United Guyanese Diaspora Global Network has chosen Bianca M. Forde, a young lawyer born in the U.S.A. to Guyanese parentage to speak at its Official Launch and Fundraiser.

Apollo Beach, FL – After careful consideration of a field of impressive second-generation Guyanese candidates, the United Guyanese Diaspora Global Network has chosen Bianca M. Forde, a young lawyer born in the U.S.A. to Guyanese parentage to speak at its Official Launch and Fundraiser. This inaugural event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at the Royal Empress Hall, located at 122-21 Rockaway Blvd, South Ozone Blvd, New York. This accomplished young woman will be the Youth Guest Speaker as a second-generation Guyanese, along with Guest Speaker H.E. Ambassador Insanally.

Ms. Forde is currently a member of the Major Crimes Trial Section of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia ("USAO D.C."). There she investigates, indicts, and tries criminal matters in D.C. Superior Court, and represents the United States before the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining USAO D.C., Ms. Forde spent years litigating complex commercial disputes, domestically and abroad, and representing corporate entities alleged to have violated anti-trust, corruption, and anti-money laundering laws. Having lived and worked in Dubai, UAE, Ms. Forde has significant corporate governance and litigation experience under UAE and Jordanian law. While in private practice, she zealously represented pro bono clients in civil rights proceedings before federal district courts in New York.

Ms. Forde received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in Newton, Massachusetts. She is licensed to practice law in the state of New York, and also in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She enjoys reading, volunteering, international travel, and fitness-related activities in her spare time.

An invitation to attend the event was also extended to H.E. President David Granger who will not be able to attend. Guyana’s Consul General Miss. Barbara Atherly (NY) will be attending the event. Guyana High Commissioner Mrs.Clarissa Sabita Riehl, Consul-General Miss. Anyin Choo (Toronto), New York Senator Miss. Roxanne Persaud, and New York Congresswoman Miss, Yvette Clarke have also been invited. 

The event will fun back-to-school supplies for primary school children on the East Coast Demerara, as well as a project in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for a Diaspora Skills-Mapping survey to fill gaps in Guyana, including the oil and gas sector. Additionally, UGDGN is focused on developing a robust Diaspora Youth Engagement organization contribute to nation-building in Guyana.

UGDGN Corp is a nonprofit organization that believes a united Guyanese diaspora can impact nation-building more effectively and is committed to promoting and encouraging active diaspora engagement for social and economic development by mobilizing, harnessing and utilizing the collective strengths and potential of Guyanese globally. “Young second-generation Guyanese around the world have a vital role to play in Guyana’s future,” said Mr. Wayne Forde, the Founder and President of UGDGN Corp. Members of UGDGN’S Advisory Board include Miss. Claudia Simon (DC), Miss.Savi Lenis (FL) Miss.Shoba Gaymes (MI), Mr. Vishnu Mahadeo (NY), Mr. Eric Phillips (GY), Dr.Nathilee Caldeira, and Dr.Terrence Blackman.
