Miss World Guyana 2013 Ruqayyah Boyer lends her assistance to the stationery drive by donating over 1500 pencils to the Global Shapers Community Georgetown Hub who is on a mission to supply school stationery to indigenous communities. The project is being carried out by The Global Shapers Community Georgetown Hub and is being spearheaded by Dr. Rosh Khan who is calling for ALL HELP possible, either in the form of actual stationery or monetary donations.

Miss World Guyana, Ruqayyah Boyer commended the Global Shapers team for taking the lead and paving the way for many changed lives. Miss Boyer believes that it is important for all involved to define a future filled with opportunities for our children –one that would help them to grow and succeed in life. She also pointed out that most children in today's world grow up amid poverty and violence, whilst witnessing the struggles of everyday life among their families due to unemployment or a lack of educational opportunities in their communities. Boyer said it is due to these facts that we must do more for our children to ensure that every child is guaranteed the opportunity to reach his or her full potential.

"I believe that providing children with the opportunity to develop positive behaviors is the foundation of most efforts that will also prevent youth crime and violence." stated Boyer. Community efforts such as the Global Shapers Stationery Drive, acts as a preventative measure to the well-being of our children whereby making education a key element in combating many of these social ills as it often takes the awareness role.

Miss World Guyana is currently in New York undergoing intense training for the Miss World Pageant in Indonesia. Boyer departs on September 1 to arrive in Jakarta September 3 for the Miss World Contest to be concluded on September 29. The Beauty Ambassador will be competing in over seven competitions some of which include, Beauty with a purpose, Fitness and Sports, Talent, Top model, Interview among others.
