Yvonne Baddeir: November 7, 1933 – May 13, 2022

Yvonne Baddeir of Calgary, AB, Canada, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 88 years.

Yvonne was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America on November 7, 1933. She immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, in 1989.

In her younger years, Yvonne helped deliver numerous babies in and around the countryside of Guyana. Yvonne lived quite a few years in the jungle of Guyana, planting, harvesting, and selling the fruits of her labour. She was also a small business owner and shopkeeper in Georgetown. When she immigrated to Calgary, she was a caregiver to numerous children.

Yvonne was a very independent, strong, modest, and selfless woman. She was always willing to “give” and very compassionate towards others.

She will be most remembered for the mother figure she was to so many nieces and nephews; some referred to her as ‘Mom”. She impacted so many lives in a positive way.

Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, socializing with friends and going to the casino. She also liked to sew.

Yvonne is survived by her sister Gloria Baharally and her brother Ivelaw Baddeir (Hilda), of Calgary, AB. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews in Calgary and in Guyana.

Yvonne was predeceased by her mother Julie Baddeir, her father Manoo Singh, her sister Thelma Stevenson, her brothers Alfred and Roy Baddeir; and her brother-in-law Ivan (Dickie) Baharally.
