Sylvia Gangadai Sankar (nee Jaikaran); – February 3rd, 2019

Sylvia Gangadai Sankar (nee Jaikaran), died peacefully in the early afternoon hours of Sunday, February 3rd, 2019 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington at age 82. She will be greatly missed by her husband of sixty years, Leonard Sankar.

Sylvia was a warm, caring, and generous mother and wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Sylvia was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana. After meeting, falling in love and marrying, Sylvia and Leonard immigrated to Canada with their children in 1976. The family settled in Mississauga and later moved to Waterdown/Dundas, Ontario. Sylvia was devoted to and cherished by her family: children; Derek Sankar (Audrey Holder-Sankar), Roxanne Bramble (Michael Bramble) Maurice Sankar (Sonya Dove): grandchildren; Natalie, Matthew, Stephen, Sabryna Eric, Ian, Austin, Marie and great grandchildren; Illorion, Deja and Ethan. She also loved and had fond memories of her other family members: her sister Lucille (late), brother and sister-in-law Harold and Myrtle Jaikaran, George Jaikaran, Rudolph Jaikaran and Kenneth Jaikaran.

A visitation and funeral service followed by cremation (private) was held from 1-4 pm at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium, Mississauga, Ontario on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
