Captain Brion Murphy Aviation Pioneer of Guyana Dies

Former RAF pilot, Captain Brion Murphy, who was an aviation pioneer of Guyana, died today, November 15, in his birthplace of Ireland following a long illness.

Murphy who flew with Guyana Airways Corporation (GAC), formerly British Guiana Airways, was also the Chief pilot for Bookers; he flew the Grumman Goose amphibian aircraft for GAC from 1952-1975. He is remembered for his commitment to opening the door to local talent in the aviation field, and being a resource to aspiring Guyanese aviators.
