Brazilian Aerobatic Squadron Observes 100 years of Aviation in Guyana

Guyanese were treated to a spectacular airshow by a Brazilian aerobatic squadron on Sunday March 24, 2013.

The Brazilian Air force Aerial Demonstration Squadron (Portuguese: Esquadrão de Demonstração Aérea), popularly known as Smoke Squadron (Portuguese: Esquadrilha da Fumaça) was a 20 man team with 7 performing Embraer EMB-312 Tucano turboprop trainer and one C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

The Brazilian Air force Aerial Demonstration Squadron (Portuguese: Esquadrão de Demonstração Aérea), popularly known as Smoke Squadron (Portuguese: Esquadrilha da Fumaça) was a 20 man team with 7 performing Embraer EMB-312 Tucano turboprop trainer and one C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

The airshow was held over the Atlantic Ocean near Kitty Seawall and was one of the activities to observe the 100th anniversary of civil aviation which began in 1913, when German-American pilot George Schmidt departed from what was known as then Canon race course which is now Bel Air Park, for a five minute flight.

The Brazilian team whose first visit and performance was in 2008, when Guyana hosted the Caribbean Festival of Arts, (Carifesta) has also performed in many countries in South America, Europe and the Middle East.
