Search Extends into Kaieteur Gorge for Missing Tourist

Georgetown, Guyana, September 4, 2015 – The team from the Special Forces of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), today (Friday September 4, 2015), descended into the Kaieteur gorge to continue the search to locate a female tourist who was reported missing at Kaieteur National Park on Tuesday, August 1, 2015.

The search is very dangerous as they have to carefully navigate their way through the extremely rugged and rocky area and the Kaieteur Falls at full flow.  As of 16:00 hrs this afternoon, there was no further word on their efforts.

Late on Tuesday afternoon, when it was discovered that one passenger from a Kaieteur flight was missing, a search operation was immediately launched by the Kaieteur National Park Rangers.

The search was expanded on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, when the Kaieteur National Park search team was joined by members of the Police Force, and all trails on Kaieteur Top were searched.
