The CIMBUX Memorial Celebration that was held on Saturday May 25, 2013 at the Taste of the Caribbean in Capitol Heights Maryland was well supported by folks from the DC Metropolitan area, New York and other states.

The evening started slowly but by midnight there was a crowd reminiscent of the old party days in Guyana, and all were grooving to the sounds of Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Oldies, Ska and everything in between. In true Guyanese party fashion people in their twenties were moving and rocking alongside those in their 30s, 40s, 40s, 50s, 60s and even 70s to the sounds of DJ Lion. Everyone was having a great time and the music, people, location and hospitality created the perfect atmosphere.

At 2.30 am people were continuing to enter, obviously not wanting to miss out on a great time. CIMBUX’s President Mr. Gladstone Marcus was elated at the show of support by the community, and extends his thanks on behalf of the organization, and sends his greetings and best wishes to all Guyanese on the 47th Anniversary of Guyana’s Independence.

The evening closed with everyone in great spirits, and looking forward to more recreational activities for the holiday weekend.

CIMBUX Statement: All proceeds from the event will go to benefit scholarships, social, cultural and other programs in Buxton, Guyana.
